VoIP Savings

Savings is the probable reason for changing to VoIP (Both savings and features is the probable reason for keeping VoIP).  Of course savings will vary from one individual to the next, but an actual example of savings seems the only way to convey the possible savings of VoIP over POTS.  The following example is my expense comparison after 1 year on VoIP.  If you are good at math, the difference is shocking, if you just like to go shopping, the difference is exciting.

POTS - One local number, feature package (voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, etc.), unlisted number w/fee, and NO long distance package.

VoIP - One local number, two lines usable simultaneously, feature package (many more than POTS), unlisted number w/NO fee, and unlimited long distance to US and Canada.

Figures are based on final 2 years of monthly bills for POTS and 4 years (2 consecutive 2 year agreements) paid in advance for VoIP. (monthly and annual averages derived)

  1 Month 1 Year 2 Years 4 Years
POTS $69.74 $836.89 $1673.78* $3347.56
VoIP $8.25 $99.00 $198.00 $396.00*
Savings $61.49 $737.89 $1475.78 $2951.56
Percent 88%

* Actual amount

The numbers speak for themselves and the service and features should also!
